ABOUT SOPHIE

Sophie Rose  Finnerty was born in Edina, Minnesota in the year 1996 on a cold December morning. When she reached the sixth month of her life, her parents decided to move the whole family to Arusha, Tanzania. Arusha is where Sophie spent the first four years of her life. She grew up fluent in English and Swahili and developed a curiosity for the world. When her family moved back to brisk state of Minnesota, she slowly lost touch with her Swahili but never lost her desire to see the world. 

Recently Sophie has traveled to Palestine, Israel and Puerto Rico. As a theatre artist, she sees how her art and her mission can contribute to a world full of strife. 

Sophie attended Brattleboro Union High school in Vermont and this where she began her theatre education. When she was 9 years old, she started attending workshops at New England Youth Theatre.  

At age 15,  Sophie moved back to Minnesota and attended an arts high school called Perpich Center for the Arts Education. 

After high school, Sophie Finnerty took a gap year and participated in a program called AmeriCorps National Civilian Community Corps where she received a Bronze Congressional Award. 

Then she decided to spend two years at Minnesota State University, Mankato; here she studied theatre arts as BFA acting student. 

During her second year of University, Sophie decided it was time to transfer schools. She decided to attend Augsburg University as a BA acting student, in order to pursue her passion for travel and art.
